“Women in Construction" - an Oxymoron?

Guest Speaker: Jennifer Ransom,

President of the Ransomed Group, Inc.  

As President of The Ransomed Group, Inc., Jennifer has been in the building industry for most of her life. A second-generation General Contractor, Jennifer grew up on construction sites in Colorado alongside her father who was a custom home builder. After moving to Memphis, Jennifer started The Ransomed Group, a Commercial & Industrial General contracting firm where she uses her keen eye for design, astute project management skills and perceptive attention to detail to offer clients a unique and comprehensive construction services product. The Ransomed Group specializes in Commercial & Industrial remodeling as well as Commercial, Residential, Healthcare, Office, Education & Hospitality Interior Design. Recent projects include the Magnolia Elementary Renovation, Gold Strike Casino Renovation, Memphis Cook Convention Center Renovation, Memphis Shelby County Airport Authority Baggage Services Renovation, The Commercial Appeal COVID Alternate Care Facility Build- Out, The Center for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Build-Out, Indigo Ag, among many others.

Jennifer was recently appointed by Governor Bill Lee to serve on the Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance Board for Licensing Contractors. During her 7-year tenure, she will represent Commercial Contractors throughout West Tennessee. Jennifer also serves as Chairman of the Board for the Tennessee Builders Education Foundation, a non-profit organization whose objective is to expose high school students and young adults to careers in the construction trades. The Ransomed Group was named the 2020 Minority Business Development Agency Business of the Year for the Memphis Division.

Jennifer is the mom of two teenaged sons, Frederic who is 16 and Jackson who is 14, both students at Memphis University School.
