“In my time as an elected official, I’ve strived to bring honesty, transparency, and accountability to local government.” said Morgan. “Elected leaders are the servants of the people. With both passion and measured judgment, I have endeavored to protect your family, friends, and neighbors. But while other communities around the country have thrived, Shelby County has settled for less than the status quo. You and I both know that we deserve better.”

"I love this community, but too many of its challenges are going unaddressed or are being met with half-hearted solutions. The failures of government echo through the generations. High crime rates shouldn't be normal. Failing to teach children to read is unacceptable. Poverty should never feel inevitable. Our relationship with the state government shouldn't be broken. The high tax rate and fees we pay shouldn't be taken for granted by elected officials. Shelby County can't afford to wait any longer. Now is the time to address these issues head on, because we deserve better."

"With each year of continued failure, trust in government continues to erode. Trust between the community and government is critical to fighting crime, building businesses, educating children, delivering services, and working through this pandemic together. Positive change isn't out of reach: it takes swift action and a steady hand. Once I'm elected, Shelby County government will no longer abdicate its obligations. There will be a clear chain of command, and I will take responsibility for the decisions and actions made on my watch. We deserve better."

"Additionally, Shelby County government will be transparent about how and where your money is spent. The government will be a faithful steward of the tax dollars that you worked so hard for. We will investigate and make public any fraud, misuse, or waste. If necessary, we will bring in outside investigators and appoint trusted members of the community and media to oversee. My administration will shine a light on government rather than sweep dirt under the rug. We deserve better."

Much of Worth Morgan's spirit for public service derives from a deeply-rooted faith and his personal health struggles. "Everyone has a battle they're wrestling with. Some are more visible than others. When we understand this about one another, we learn to treat our neighbor with a little more grace and life with a lot more humility," said Morgan. "Since I was ten years old, I haven't been able to take this life for granted. Without a doubt, LeBonheur Children's Hospital saved my life as I battled through a difficult and rare liver disease. To this day, I still fight with an auto-immune disorder called Crohn's disease. Where some people would see weakness, I have found strength, patience, and hope. Everyone deserves an opportunity to live a fulfilling life of purpose and peace. With whatever time I have, with whatever strength I have, my life will be fulfilled if I can help provide that opportunity for others. That's why I'm running. Time is a precious gift, and I intend to make use of it."

Throughout this campaign and beyond, I want to hear from you. I want to hear your stories and ideas for how county government can be a better partner for your family and community. I hope to see you on the campaign trail, but please reach out to me or the campaign through email. Stay tuned for future announcements about how you can support and get plugged in. Bonner and I are thrilled to have this opportunity to serve.
